annual back to school girls night!

on september 16th we had our annual girls night.
oh man, i love these girls!
we went to the melting pot. we had a bit of a wait so we walked around and snapped photos of all these cuties.

it was the first time for several of the ladies that night. i think we all enjoyed it! it was so much fun to be with all of these gals!

what a bunch of awesome gals! i love them. we sure missed lauren but she was on a date to her first high school dance! so weird to see her dating.

fangamu sealing

on September 15, we had the honor of attending the fangamu sealing in the twin falls temple. we road there with the schick's and the mullin's. we had so much fun in the car there and back! we talked about what color our personalities are and that made us all want to take the test. we all took the test together and laughed at everyone's answers. it was really fun. then we read all the results. it's so interesting. one of the funniest car rides i've taken.

the sealing was lovely. jerry translated the entire thing into french for them. such a neat experience. i'm so happy for this sweet family!

he is such a wonderful man. he has done so much to help me and so many others in the ward. i feel like he really understands. i have also been the recipient of some amazing priesthood blessings. we had a wonderful bishopric.

i am so grateful for this experience!
I wish i had the words to tell you the fangamu's story. it's truly inspiring. but i don't want to mess it up and i won't do it justice. a book is being written about them and i will share that as soon as it's done.

on september 12th we took these cute jars fill with goodies to the girl's grandparents to celebrate grandparent's day.

we went to burlington coat factory to get coats for the girls. we found some that came with snow pants. as you can see by the photos, we had a good time. :)

after we take flower to school we still have an hour before i work and before i take river to carols. one morning we went on a bike ride. i was just gifted my mom's bike from my parents. she can no longer ride it due to her imbalance caused by the parkinson's. i am so grateful they gave it to me! kg got a bike at our ward's saturday market, flower got her bike from kassidee, and river got a bike from walter! i am so grateful for people's generosity. we bought each of us a helmet and spent so much time riding in august and september. i've loved this family time.
kg was taking my bike for spin. isn't it cute?! i love it.

on labor day, september 5th, we went with the goodsell's and sandee to celebration park. we had never been there before and it was a lot of fun! we got to shoot atlatls which was new for all of us.

then we walked to the bridge. it was really hot that day!

Labor Day Weekend

we spent the weekend at the cabin with monkey and the boys.
i've wanted to get photos of this truck for awhile so i finally did it. it's been on the property for many years.

look how filthy those girls are! they played hard and had so much fun with the boys!

i was fascinated with these bug chewed leaves.

such a beautiful dragon fly.

i kept trying to get closer and closer without spooking it.

on our way home we made our traditional stop in idaho city. we weren't expecting to see donna's place rebuilt already. it burned last summer. it's a beautiful place now! they swapped spots with the grocery store and it's a much better layout.

the grocery store used to be in the front with the restaurant in back. you had to order and pay for your food in the grocery section side and the seating was limited in the dining room. now it's a huge restaurant with plenty of seating!
it was a wonderful trip as usual!

8.5-i loved keeping popsicles in the clubhouse freezer and bringing them out to share when there were lots of kids at the pool. such a cute scene.

we had a big bunch that day. the yearsley's, goodsell's, sandee, fuhriman's, zach bahr and jensen's.

one saturday lauren had a track meet at bishop kelly so we went over to say hello and cheer her on!
one day flower put her foot in this drum and pretended to have a bum leg. river decided to copy her. the only problem is, river's foot is larger and it got stuck. there are also little metal cymbals in there. one of them was cutting her toe with each step. it was so sad.
her naked little bum makes me laugh. this girl would always rather be naked!

8.24.11-we went to flower's new school to see who her new teacher would be.
mrs. schillen happened there so we said hello. flower was really excited!

then we went to sushi at fujiyama with ryan and the madsen's

the last friday before flower started school we went on our last after family date. flower would longer be making these trips with us now that she's in school. :( she chose chow chows.

first day of school!

all of our schedules changed on august 30.
last school year kg would get flower ready for school when he got home from work, then take her to school. he'd then pick flower up at noon. he'd also be with river and then flower till i got home for lunch at 2, then the girls would go to carols from 3-6pm.
this school year kg goes to bed as soon as he gets home from work and i get up and get the girls ready and take flower to school. river goes to carol's from 10-2pm and i pick her up during my lunch, leaving her with kg at 3, when he goes to pick up flower from school. me getting up earlier has been a hard adjustment but i'm loving the change. kg gets more sleep and i feel like we have more time together in the evenings. it's working well!
the girls picked out their 'back to school' outfits and were ready to go! we all drove flower together on the first day.

i love my gorgeous girls! and i can't believe river still has 3 more years before kindergarten! yikes.

the girls had to use the bathroom so we went over to freddies. love it when river gets her dress caught in her undies!

we had such a wonderful first day. i hope the rest of this year is just as great!

the abc's of art in boise

at the end of kindergarten last year flower received a really cool little booklet that had a local art piece for every letter of the alphabet.

we intend to take the girls around and find each piece. august 25 was our first attempt. it was so fun to walk around and discover these things! we have such cool art in boise.
these chandeliers weren't part of it but i love them and took these photos while i waited for my clan to use the bathroom.

river has to stop and pet every dog we come across!
the book shows a picture and a location as follows:
we looked all over the grove for something that could be 'inside'.
it wasn't by the children playing with marbles.
we walked all over that grove and were so stumped and then finally flower found it! i was so proud of her and she was pretty happy with herself! the picture of that creature 'inside' was in that little log she's sitting on! i couldn't get a good photo of the inside. i don't know how she figured that out! way to go flower!
had to get some more photos of her super cool frames.
she is so cute!

the girls love this audio art. it didn't even make it into the book, along with the children playing marbles. we just have cool stuff to see(and hear) in boise!

this is an incredible piece of art with lots of history. i love looking at old homes.

the following 14 photos are my favorite new additions to freak alley. they added a mural section which i just think it so freaking cool! each one of these art pieces tell such a story and struck me in some way.

because we spent so much time looking at all the new art if freak alley these are the only ones we got to in the book. i'm anxious for this spring when we can go explore again. it was truly a fun family evening!

on august 22nd we all went in for eye exams. it had been two years and i knew i needed a new prescription. we all get free exams so i figured why not take the whole family.

river had fun trying on frames while flower had her exam.
we were surprised to find out that flower needed glasses. i was secretly excited. she looks darling in them!
that night we had a bbq at roger's house and she was so excited to show off her new spectacles.

she picked out such a cute pair! i love the turquoise and flowers.

the next day we went to carrita to get a hair cut so she'd be all prettied up for school. :)

she has gorgeous hair!

river loved helping clean up the hair.
i also got a hair cut.
we then went to melting pot for dinner, using a generous gift card that ryan and megan gifted us for our birthdays.

a wonderful day indeed.

kristen has been by bff since first grade. that's 29 years of having a best friend. that's a long time. she's family. i love her dearly. she makes me laugh like no one else can. being with her is always comfortable, like going home. the memories i have with her are overwhelming. she's in almost all of them! there's always been a natural ebb and flow to our relationship. times when we were together every second and times when weeks will go by but it always feels like no time has passed. in august i opened up to her and trusted her with some long time(more than half my life) struggles that i've had. she recommended an awesome therapist. after 15 years of trying various counselors to deal with some of these issues, i finally found someone to which i could open up. and through all of this she hasn't judged me. i wish i had told her sooner but perhaps i wasn't ready then and wouldn't have seen the c

on august 15th, for our 35th birthday, kg and i decided to throw ourselves a par-tay! it was so much fun! we held it at phillipi park. we rented a huge blow up slide and cotton candy machine. we had prizes. we had face painting! we had fun!

august trip, day 4::craters of the moon

we said our good-byes in idaho falls. we had to stop by aunt peggy's to let the kids do the beloved tire swing. that swing has been there since i was a tiny kid.

then we continued with our idaho falls tradition of going the arco way home and eating at the pickle's place. turns out none of us were very hungry and they were busy so we took our traditional photos on the giant green rocking chair and then went on to craters of the moon.

i love this one! my dad with three of his granddaughters.

we all toured the craters museum and watched a movie that was pretty neat. then my parents including sandee and the kids went on their way and kg, me and the girls went on a short hike and drive through the craters.

finally we were on the road to home. once we arrived in mountain home we decided to enjoy another birthday meal at winger's. we were surprised to see my parents and sandee with the same idea and they were just leaving! :)

we enjoyed a nice dinner and better dessert before finally making it to boise. what a delicious way to end a wonderful trip!

we went to idaho falls for the campbell reunion. i can't find a single photo from the reunion. not sure what happened to them. but we had a great time. i love my mom's family. so laid back and easy going. we met at a park and just mingled. kg and i played the card game BS with some of the cousins. the auction was a blast and we had a great time.
after the reunion i invited anyone who wanted to join us to swim in the hotel. ashley and kristen took us up on it and my girls had fun playing with cousins.

after that kg and the girls plus kassidee went to jakers for my birthday dinner.

it was a good way to spend my birthday.

august trip, day 2::logan

we went to logan for chelsea featherstone's wedding. i was so excited to go to the logan temple! when we arrived we checked into our hotel and went for a swim.

then we got ready and went to the temple.

bridesmaids::sierra, tracy and jenny! love these girls.
the bride and groom! so cute. the sealing was amazing and i'm so glad we went.
after that we took ruth's recommendation and went to firehouse pizza. it was pretty good but not the best i've had.

then we went to aggie's for some ice cream. that was delicious!
finally on to the reception.
kg was playing a memory game with flower. he'd open his hand for just a second to show her the candy and then she'd have to tell him the colors and how many. it was cute and she was good!

i haven't been to logan since 2005 so it was good to be back. i also loved going to the logan temple for the first time. it's really beautiful.

we went to lagoon with my parents, sandee and her kids. we decided to do the haunted mansion right when we got there. here's flower after:
that may not have been such a great idea. but she got over it fast and we had a fantastic day!

because of the haunted mansion, these three sat out for the terror ride. :)

i was so impressed with the rides the girls were doing. we were able to go on one 'grownup' ride that river was tall enough to do, the bat, and she loved it! it was so fun to be on a roller coaster together as a family. :) we had such a good time and were happy to be included in this fun day.

july 29th, we went to breakfast at cafe de paris after going to the post office.

then my sister did a wonderful thing for me and had the girls spend the night for two nights so i could be productive 'round the house. i really appreciated it! things just got entirely away from us and it needed dire attention. she met me at the snow shack and then took the girls from there. our friends dave and isaac joined us as well.

then i went home and got to work. first i cleaned my bathroom-i turned on the trusty iphone and hit shuffle and went to work.

on saturday, july 30th, after work i met sandee and the kids for dinner so i could give her church clothes for the girls since them staying a second night wasn't in the original planning.
then i went home and got back to work on the house.

i forgot to send jammies for the girls so they wore kas' stuff to bed. oversized and super cute!

tenant appreciation bbq

july 27th
we had a bbq at the pool for both apartment complexes. we had a good turn out. we had a drawing for gifts cards and rent credits. each apartment that came received one which i thought was great!

tex is the maintenance man at benchmark. he was the official grill master.

we provided the meat and fixin's and asked the tenants to bring a salad or dessert to share.

josh is our carpet cleaning vendor. this is his wife and baby.

he is absolutely adorable!!!

we went to dinner at willi b's sandwich saloon with sandee and the kids. she had a coupon that we all shared.

then we all went to the church.

july 24th
we woke up early enough to enjoy the sun rise.

these two guys were fishing with bows and arrows. they got one right in front of us. it was so fun to watch!

the kids got creative with keeping cool by putting the chairs in the water since the rafts were being used for naps. it was just too hot to sleep in the tents or bus.

flower and topher had so much fun this trip and got along so well. i loved watching them together.
i'm so glad vern brought his guitar. he made up songs about the kids that made us all laugh!

the poor dog was getting sunburned with his albino skin. you can see the red around his eyes and nose. :(
vern and river enjoyed some yellow peppers.

we had a great bon fire that night! the 3 guys were hilarious together and kept us laughing.

july 24th
we woke up, enjoyed some breakfast, cleaned up the sight and were on our way home.

i'm so glad the mullin'g joined us at the last minute. i sure enjoy their company. i look forward to going camping with them next summer when their kids can come along! it was a great trip and i'm grateful for fun friends!
