Flower is funny

Here are the photos of Flower from Monday's Family Home Evening in downtown. She is now 3 months into her 4th year of life.
We have done some fun Family Home Evenings this summer. Most have included good friends. The Klein's come swimming often. A few times have been on Monday's so as soon as I get off work everyone is worn out and hungry so we go get some dinner. We recently went with them to Bangkok Thai and Chili's. We also have made runs to the nearest Shaved Ice Shack with them!
On Monday, July 6th we went to Oriental Express with Sturgill's and invited along a new family in our ward, the Heiner's. After eating we walked to Ben & Jerry's for ice cream. Flower hit it off with Miles who is 5. They had so much fun together. Flower was really upset when it was time to go. She was crying and pouting in the car. Finally she told us in a very dramatic sighing voice, "I just want to be in love." Oy vey we are in trouble. Turns out he has a pretty big crush on her too. He doesn't like going to church but one Sunday all his mom had to do was remind him that Flower will be there and he's up and ready in seconds flat. Their primary teacher told me last Sunday that Miles wouldn't let anyone sit by Flower. Ahhhh, young love.
Monday of last week we went to Veteran's Park with Subway sandwiches. We met Shannon and her kids their plus Jane's friend Bella. Jane, Bella and Flower were playing and having fun but you know what happens when you get three girls together....there's always a third wheel and competition for attention. Jane and Flower had a tug-o-war for Bella's attention. At one point J wanted to play hide the shoes and go find them. J lured B away from Flower with that enticing game. Flower stomps her feet and waves her arm and in the most snotty, diva, spoiled brat voice screams, "I am not playing that game. That game is ridiculous!" We all busted up and couldn't stop laughing! The other girls haven't forgotten it because when Shannon brought the kids over for swimming yesterday they were all saying it and laughing.
And this story is what happened before Family Home Evening last Monday, right before they went to karate. KG was getting dressed, part of which includes putting on a cup. She walked in right at that time and the conversation went something like this.

Flower: What is that?
KG: A cup
F: What's it for?
KG: It protects my crotch from getting hit in karate.
F: When I grow up I want to have a crotch.
KG: You already have a crotch.
F: No I want a long crotch like your yours.

When he called and told me the story I could not stop laughing. It still makes me laugh.
She always has something funny to say and keeps us on our toes!

Boy, Sunday morning was fun.

KG had an early meeting so it was up to me to get the girls and me ready. I got up at 8:30 and hooked Flower up with breakfast and made River some cereal and a bottle. Then I went and showered and blow dried my hair. When I finished I turned on a cartoon for Flower who was finished eating. I woke up River that was adorned in a completely soggy and poopy diaper. Changed that and fed her half of her cereal before setting it aside and handing her the bottle so I could go do Flower's hair. While in the bathroom I kept smelling urine. I'd look around and not see the source. Finally I picked up the water bottle to get her hair wet and a liquid dripped down my arm. There was a puddle on the counter under the bottle. That's when I had a flash back of the night before. Flower wanted her nails painted. We told her to go get the polish. She had to climb on the counter to do so. Shortly after she went in there we heard her say she wet her pants. Funny how just an hour previous KG and I both commented to one another that it had been a long time since she'd had an accident. We jinxed it. She just gets playing and forgets to go. Anyway, she's at a point now that we don't get mad we just tell her to take care of it, meaning put the wet clothes in the hamper and put dry stuff on. There's usually not a puddle. Well, now back to Sunday morning when I'm trying to do her hair. When she wet her pants, she meant on the counter! And she made no effort to clean it up. It ran into and under everything that was on the counter and then simmered all night. So when I picked up the brush, it had dry urine on it. And the water bottle was covered in wet stuff and so on. It was nasty. So I had to take the time to clean that up. Then back to doing her hair. When I was almost done it dawned on me that I had left the cereal low enough for River to reach. I just knew she was playing in it. No reason to rush in there since it was probably a lost cause so i finished her hair and then slowly entered the living the room. Sure enough River, the boppy, my cutting mat and the floor were covered with the oatmeal/blueberry/apple mix.
Everything was purple. It was worse then this photo makes it seem. The boppy's cover wasn't on because I had taken it off a couple of days before to clean it. Now the pillow is gross. Nice. I cleaned that all up and then gave her the remainder of her bottle while I straightened my hair. Then I got Flower dressed. Then I went to get River dressed and she was poopy again. Ugh. FINALLY, I got dressed and we were ready to go. At least I was smart enough not to get any of us dressed until right before we were walking out the door. It was 9:30, which is when our church starts, but considering all that happened in that hour I was impressed it wasn't later. We were standing right by the door and I went to grab my keys and they're not there. I text KG and sure enough they were left in the jeep. That's what happens when I've driven somewhere but then he decides to drive home so he uses his keys. Since my keys aren't in my hand when I get out I forget I had them in the first place. I looked all over for the other bus keys. KG finally told me where they were and were off. Whew! We actually made it while the first guy was still speaking! Shocking. Had I not been excited to wear the skirt I had made on Saturday, and drive the newly fixed up bus that KG picked up the night before at 11 pm, I would have packed it in after the cereal mess. But I was very impressed with myself and laughed it all off.
Church was church. I was feeling very self conscious.
We enjoyed naps after church and that evening we had caramel corn while we watched Bride Wars, which we enjoyed.
I'm not really looking forward to getting back to the grind this week but the weekend was great!

Yes...I did it on purpose. And it was funny.

We fed River her first bit of baby food Saturday night. I couldn't help myself. I deliberately gave her something I was sure she wouldn't like just so I could laugh myself into an asthma attack. I love this part of parenting! That is seeing them try new foods. I have so been looking forward to this. It's totally priceless. I did finish up with something I knew she'd enjoy, after all the fun photos of course. :)
At first it wasn't so bad.
Mmmm, beef and noodle dinner. *I actually don't think it's that bad and way better then the sweet potatoes she actually liked. Now those are gross!*
And then it was down hill from there.

Glaring at us.
Spit out all over her chin.
Shaking to try and avoid the spoon. Wow she looks angry.

My favorite!!! Shaking and gagging.
Get it out, get it out, get it out!

Oops, there's a carrot left behind.
Shaking again.

Yep, gagged again! LOL.

Mmmm, this towel tastes so much better then that crap!

I was laughing then and I'm laughing now! :)

***Now please don't think I was endlessly torturing her. This all occurred in about 5 minutes.

We had some good laughs over this one!

Flower put these glasses on River and we lost it! We could not stop laughing. Shoot I'm still laughing! And she left them on for a good 5 minutes. Her serious little face just puts me over the edge!
Flower also fed River her cereal for the first time all by herself. It was so cute to watch. I adored every minute of it! She also cleaned her up after! She loves to help and was so proud of herself.

Shortly after this we discovered a 'pool' of liquid in the bottom of the exercauser. I figured Flower spilled her water. I took River out and her little feet were ice cubes and soaking wet. That's when I smelled something yucky, only to discover the 'pool' was pee and diarrhea. Awesome. It was seriously a half an inch deep! (Sorry MK, you may not want this thing back!) I think she was in it for over a half hour. But she wasn't fussy, poor thing.

This afternoon Flower went to an awesome primary activity! She was really looking forward to it and was so excited to tell me all about it when I arrived!
The activity was 'A Flight to Eternity'. Each child was given a boarding pass as their invitation and ticket to the activity.
(Click on the photo to enlarge)
It's very clever! The whole activity was very well put together.
I love the current presidency and I'm so grateful for the time and effort they put into Flower, and the other children, and make them feel so loved!

While she was at the activity River and I went to hang out with Matt and Kris while she cleaned Matt's room. Big fun but it was entertaining and far better then driving all the way back home!

Later, while River and I napped, KG and Flower went Costco and Walmart.

KG made a yummy lemon pasta dinner!

And I just found out KG got three surprise visitors at work. He sure has a lot of girl friends! Hi girls! Glad you could have a reunion. Is Boise being called 'Albuquerque' the 'in thing' these days? :)
Fun day for all.

Proud, proud moment

::hanging head in shame:: Ok fine I'll admit it, we were cracking up! Awhile back we put the kids to bed and then were in the living room watching tv. We muted the tv when we thought we heard Flower say bitch. Imagine our surprise when we realized she was teaching her baby sitter how to say son of a bitch. She was saying it over and over and then would say, "no it's like this" and repeat it again as if River was repeating it but not saying it properly. Proud moment but it really was hard not to laugh!

Jesus Underpants Children!

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure that's not what she means. That's what Flower was belting from the table as she waited for her lunch. KG and I busted up in the kitchen. I think she means the song "Jesus Understands Children" by Janis Kapp Perry. :)

Let's kick it.

can you dig it?
