what better way to spend the last day of the year than at ceramica with my favorite girls? we reserved the back room and invited lots of friends. i had flower, river and kassidee. kristen also came as well as patti and her two girls. it was a fun day.
river decided to paint a miniature owl cookie jar like my big one so she'd have one for her kitchen! i love that she wants to be just like me!
kassidee painted a small owl and a fairy.
flower finally painted the hello kitty jewelry box she's had her eye on for months!
since we were a group we got 20% off our purchases. i finally bought this big tree i've wanted all season! little lights go in it. my mom had painted a smaller version when i was young and i always loved it. i can't wait till it's done but it will likely take me a few visits!
patti did a plate, and her daughters did a horse and an owl mug.
kristen made the cutest coasters! they look like the peanuts gang.
thanks for coming to play with us ladies!
that evening the girls spent the night at sandee's so kg and i could have a date. it's been too long and he doesn't have new year's eve off very often. i was so excited! we went to see lincoln, then went to outback steakhouse for dinner, and then back to see jack reacher. that was an awesome show! it was over at 11:45 p.m. so then we went to john and lisa's to ring in the new year. we stayed there till about 1:30 a.m. chatting before coming home and watching some of our shows. i think we finally went to sleep at 4 am. it was so awesome to be able to sleep in the next day together!
that afternoon we met sandee, her kids and our girls at the theater to treat them to a movie for watching the girls. we watched parental guidance. hilarious!
i'm grateful for all the movie cards we received for christmas. they made those 2 days free for us and full of fun! it was a very fun way to ring in the new year and i'm very optimistic about this year. our favorite number is 13 so we've been looking forward to this year for a long time! cheers.

Happy New Year's Eve.
Here's the last photo of the girls for 2008. I love it. They were patiently waiting for me to make caramel corn. :)
You know what? My girls look like hoodlums. River is in a summery short outfit. Flower is still in pajamas and hair undone. My house is a mess and I don't care. Like clothes and blankets covering the floor, cloth diapers needing cleaned, floors that desperately need to be swept and vacuumed, laundry to do, Christmas stuff to be put away, dishes to be done. You name it, it needs it. But guess what I'm doing instead? Watching Alice in Wonderland with Flower on one side and River cuddled on my lap. And we are sharing a bowl of caramel corn and eating cheese sticks. And I'm loving every minute of it. This is so much better then ignoring them to clean! It's just more important to me.
We have decided to keep it low key tonight. For the past four years we've gone to the Goodsell's huge party. Adults and kids are welcome. Lots and lots are invited. It's pure craziness. Normally I'm ok with it. This year we want quiet. Calm. We are going to Oriental Express for dinner with the Sturgill's. And then who knows? No plans. Fly by the seat of our pants. That's us.
It's time to get back to my movie and my girls. I love saying that...MY GIRLS. Next we're watching Mamma Mia.
Hope you are able to ring in the new year in a way that makes you happy!
Peace.

New Year's Eve Party!
The big shebang was over at the Goodsell's. It was filled with good friends, good food and good games as usual! The night started with another crazy game of Quelf.

I think my favorite activity so far was having to write a six line rhyming poem:
John likes poo,
and so do you and you.
I like fudge,
you shouldn't judge.
KG totally rocks
my freaking socks.
I then had to recite the poem with my chin touching my left shoulder, my right hand touching my left ear and turning in circles. Here is the video! :)
Great fun was had by all...well except for maybe Rhonda who kept getting the crappy tasks...although I'm sure I would have thought they were fun! At one point she had to build a fort and sit under it until it was her turn again. Since we had so many players, that was like 30 minutes! Then right after that one she had to sit under a table until her turn!

All the kids were invited to this event. It sure made me appreciate our 'no kid' game night and made me crave it that much more! It was so loud in there most of the night! It made it difficult to get through a game. The kids sure had fun though and it was great to see them all playing and getting along. What a fantastic way to ring in the new year! We are so blessed!
