River's 4 month Stats

River had her 4 month check-up today. She got three shots and barely cried. The nurse was impressed. She didn't weigh as much as I thought nor was she as long.

Her stats:
Weight: 15 pounds 12 ounces=90%
Height: 25 3/4 inches=95%
Head circumference:55 cm=55%

Her stats from 2 months old to compare:
Here stats:
weight: 13.7 pounds=97%
height: 23.75 inches=90%
head circumference=39.5 cm=70%

Her weight gain has slowed and her height has sped up.

Love this girl!

River is 4 months old.

Here's a few things that have happened in the last month.
*She has developed a liking for the binky, especially when she is tired.
*She no long likes to be swaddled.
*She must have a blanket on her when she is ready to go to sleep. She has developed a routine that she plays with the blanket with her hands and gathers it by her mouth and cheeks. By the time she falls asleep it is usually over her mouth. If you move it she wakes up and starts all over until it's over her mouth and cheeks again. It's very cute to watch. Once she's asleep her hands go up above her head.
*She sucks/chews on the first finger, the one on her left hand the most, putting it in her mouth like a hook. I love it.
*She sucks her tongue quite often and ends up sucking her bottom lip in and makes all kinds of noises with it.
*When we are feeding her she likes to scratch our shirt, pretty much right on the boob area. She's discovering different textures and does it over and over until her bottle is gone.
*She also scratches her bumbo, boppy, and bed as she discovers textures.
*She now swats at her toys and loves her play gym. She is slowly getting interested in holding toys. She still prefers to hold her own hands or manipulate blankets. She also can pull the toys hard enough to make them vibrate or make the music play.
*She gets excited when she hears us shaking her bottle. Even when she can't see us, she knows the sound. She stops crying as soon as she sees it. Her lips pucker up too. If you put it near/in her hands, she will bring it towards her mouth.
*She stares at Flower, following her intently around the room with her eyes.
*She constantly rubs her tongue against her gums or smacks or gums together.
*She seems to be a momma's girl at this point which fills my heart with joy. She gets very excited when she hears my voice or sees me walk into the room. Although when dad gets home in the morning, if she's already awake, she looks for him until he comes and makes eye contact and says hello.
*She 'sings' along to the radio or with me when I sing hymns. It is super cute. She'll 'sing' for the whole song of 'I'm a Child of God'
*If one of us is talking to the other on the phone, we will put the phone to her ear and talk to her. She lights up and just listens to our voice. Yesterday she was crying and just really fussy. I got KG on the phone and every time she heard his voice she stopped crying and got the biggest smile on her face. It's very sweet.
*We took her on her first walk in the stroller yesterday and she LOVES being outside. I've taken her in the carrier but she really liked the stroller. I knew she was hungry but she was content, that is until we got upstairs and inside and then she let it wail.
*She took her first ride in the Crush the Bus today. The girls and I took Crush on the first spin of the season and it felt like home. Flower was so excited! River was in the back and just gazed out the windows.
*And today she rolled over for the first time! She rolled from her stomach to her back both to the right side and the left side, several times.

Update: Bullet Style

We haven't been particularly busy over the last week or so , I just haven't blogged and now there's just too much I want to remember so bullet form it is!
...On February 26th I went to lunch with Brenda and Kris. I sure love lunch dates like this! I wasn't feeling the best that day so this really brightened things.

...On February 28th we went to Greg and Bekah Dunkley's party celebrating Bekah's birthday and their 10th anniversary. It was fun and entertaining as always to see Greg and Jeremy Jensen dancing like they did in high school.

...KG and the girls were sick with colds that whole weekend so I worked from home Thursday and Friday so I could take care of them. I love this job simply because that's an option! Because of the sickies, I went to above party by myself.

...We had KG's parents over for dinner that Sunday. It was nice to visit and Flower had a blast playing games with them both.

...The next weekend it was my turn to get the dreaded cold. I didn't work Thursday and Friday. It was really the worst stuffy nose I've ever had. It was weird actually. Both nostrils were so plugged that I could barely swallow. When I did it felt like it was sucking my brain and my ears would pop. Nice. Thankfully it passed through quickly, only lasting three days.

...Because of the above it was a low key weekend.

...I had breakfast with my dad and sister on Friday. The girls got to relish in some time with Kris. Flower talked about it the rest of the day. I don't even compare and she's sure to let me know it! :)

...I re-approached the quilting thing and accomplished a square with little fan fair. That felt good. I think I can do this now. I took Miss River along and she was a dream.

...Flower spent the night at Aunt Sandee's and had a great time. She got to go watch Spencer's football game while I quilted.

...I helped Flower make brownies on Saturday afternoon which she then took to church on Sunday and shared with her class. She was very proud of that.

...Church was neat for me. During Sacrament Meeting Ruth was holding River. She was fast asleep in her arms and Ruth became very emotional at the spirit she was feeling that was radiating from River. There was a strong connection happening between the two of them that was very special.

...I continued to feel that spirit from River and wanted to revel in it. I went into the Mother's lounge for the remainder of church. I took my shoes off, kicked back in a reclining chair, sat cross-legged and just held her, in the dark, while she slept. I just stared at her beautiful face and enjoyed the peaceful feeling that was filling my heart.

...Sunday night Sara invited us over for a Thanksgiving feast! It was d-lish! It was nice to have a Thanksgiving sort of meal in March because I certainly have a lot to be thankful for, especially as of late, and it was nice to be reminded to be thankful for where I am in life. Sara's parents were there as well and hilarious as usual! I love their dry sense of humor and dirty minds! Makes for a great night.

...As of Monday the 9th I have consistently met the goals I set for myself for three weeks! That feels really good.

...I made a whole gaggle of enchiladas on Monday. I had fun sharing them on Tuesday with a few people that I love.

...KG and the girls came to work with me Tuesday and hung out in the clubhouse! I LOVE this! It's so fun to be working and look through the great big window and be able to see them.

...I've reconnected with two friends from highschool, both Spencer's, through Facebook. It's been really fun to catch up with them.

...My computer cord has had issues since I've had this computer. I'm on my fourth cord. They crack and spark and all kinds of fun things. I also have to hold it just a certain way for it to actually charge the computer. With the current cord it's been this way now for a few months and as of yesterday, the wires were totally visible and not connected. I finally went into the Apple Store. They've never made me pay for a new cord so I thought for sure I'd have to this time which is why it's taken me so long to go in. Nope, they handed me a brand new one! I was there for all of three minutes! They are awesome!!!

...Our friends Jake and Heather are in town for a few days and they made time to go to dinner with us tonight. I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy their company.

...I have now been working at my job for 1 year! My boss so generously gave us a weekend at their Tamarack property to celebrate! We will be taking advantage of that in April and I can hardly wait to enjoy a weekend away with my little family.

...On March 5th it's been two years since Flower was sealed to us. This year is important to me because it means she's now been with us longer then she lived in China. I look forward to being sealed to River.

...KG didn't work last night therefore he went to bed with me and was up early. I woke up and thought he and Flower were in the living room and then I went back to sleep. It turns out they were out shopping for flowers. They returned and woke me up with fresh flowers and breakfast in bed. It was a lovely way to start out my day.
...I colored my hair today. I love it.
...This afternoon Flower and I went on a mommy daughter date. It's been too long and she's been a bit jealous so I took her to see Tales of Despereaux. It was cute.

...I am really looking forward to the rest of the week and my weekend!!!

Dinners out with friends and other nonsense

***On Monday after work I popped us some caramel corn, shoved it in the diaper bag and we smuggled it into the movies. We went to Bedtime Stories. We haven't been to the theater since Mamma Mia last summer. Flower wasn't liking the volume so much. :) She kept asking why it was so loud. It was a cute show but not my favorite.
***Flower went back to preschool this week. She was thrilled. Every night throughout the break she would pray for preschool. She really missed it.
***Her new gymnastics day is now on Wednesday's instead of Monday's. She has a whole new class. Should be fun to see how she gels with the kids.
***Got a call from my Endocrinologist about my lab work a couple of weeks ago. It was a 6 weeks check up to the upped dosage. Still not enough. I'm also still too low on Vitamin D so she doubled as well. Fun. More labs in 5 weeks and check up in 6. Can't wait.
***On Thursday night as I was diligently slaving in front of the computer doing my bulletin for church, the Klein's called and invited us to dinner. We promptly piled in the car and met them at Chili's 15 minutes later. It was a nice distraction and very fun! The kids had a great time together too. We all shared our favorite dessert as well...
***My sister and Kas stopped by to see us on Friday night. We watched a funny Oprah that I've had saved to show her since last January! A gal we new growing up was on. Wow. It's hilarious. She pretty much makes a fool of herself.
***Saturday night my sister and I took her best friend out for her birthday. Happy Birthday Jen. We went to the Melting Pot. The three of us shared the full meal for two which is three courses being salads, cheese fondue, and meat. We ordered an extra salad so we could each have our own and then we also had dessert and left stuffed! It's all so good but of course the dessert is the best part!
Nothing more really needs to be said except Yum!
To add insult to injury of an expensive place(but totally worth it), we forgot to feed the parking cash box...$25 ticket dammit! So ridiculous. I even had the five bucks in my pocket but put it back to get Rivs out of the car and forgot about it. Plus Bruce and Laurie Dunkley were getting in their car after just eating there and wanted to see River so they distracted us. It's just lame.
The original plan for the night was for KG and Flower to have a little date night while I was gone. Well that morning we got a call from his work saying he had to work a different shift, 7:30 pm to 4:00 am due to a planned power outage during his regular shift. Bummer. Instead, she went and played at the Klein's. She had a ball and even came home with a cute pair of princess heels.
***Turns out abandoning my bulletin duty on Thursday night was a mistake because I forgot about it, as I usually do if I don't get it done on Thursdays. I remembered late last night after the Melting Pot! I quickly got the kids to bed, something like 11:00, and got to work, only to have the printer stop working half way through. I finally gave up at 2:15 am.
KG was so nice to take care of it for me. When he got off work at 4:00 am, he picked them up and took them to Kinkos to finish them and then dropped them off at Sturg's door at 5:00 am. Waking them up from what I understand. Good morning! Rise and shine suckas! He he. :)
***Didn't go to church again today. I was just realizing I've only gone two or possibly three times since Riv was born in November. Probably not good. But have no fear I still know the church is true. :) Right after she was born I was just wanting to be alone with her. Then the past two were partly due to the new early time and lack of sleep being up in the night with River. However, today I realized the last time I went was a day I left feeling less then stellar and I think my subconscious has made me not motivated to go. Details are too personal at this point but I guess I should work on that. It just seems impossible.
***River is developing into a momma's girl and I can't say I mind. It does my heart good. I try and deny when KG brings it up but she really does give me more smiles and loves to cuddle with me. I think it's more my voice but he disagrees. And she has different ways she likes to cuddle with us both. But whatever. She is getting to be good and chubby which we love. She is now 7 weeks. I should mention that she loves to stand. That started at 5 weeks. She'd stand all day if we let her. Silly girl.
***Tonight the girls and I are going to my brothers to celebrate the birthdays of my sister Alyse and niece Torta, while KG goes to an Elders Quorum presidency meeting. Big fun.

Hope your weekend was everything you wanted it to be.

Let's kick it.

can you dig it?
