Sugary Sweet Weekend.

There were lots of tender moments this weekend. It started off at 1:00 Saturday morning. As I headed to bed I checked on the girls. I love watching them sleep. Seeing her cuddle her white fury silky edged blanket is so peaceful.
Those lips are perfection! So yummy and plump!

Oh mylanta those thighs are delicious! Pass the ketchup please...I'm going to have a nibble.
I love Flower's bed for all the space it provides below for play. What I don't love is that I'm not able to watch her sleep anymore. Not sweet.
This is the best I could get of her without killing myself.
Ok it wasn't all sweet. Getting woken up at 7:00 am on Saturday morning by crying, which I can usually remedy by offering a bottle to buy a couple more hours of sleep, and discovering poop covering crib and baby was definitely not sweet.
The bath that followed was sweet. The backache that accompanied it due to bending over so early in the morning was not sweet.
She likes to sit up in the bath now. Laying on her back was never her favorite. This makes bath time happier. I love watching her play with the running water of which she used to be afraid.

Yes baby, 7:00 am is too early for a bath. ::yawn::
Her favorite bath time activity is now standing. It makes me nervous.
It makes her so happy!
Until she slips. Crying means time to get out. I love her eyebrows. They have so much expression.
After stripping nasty sheets from the bed I came out of the bedroom to see this. Gawh! So sweet. Sitting in the bright light of the early morning sun that cast their shadows on the wall. Flower was showing River the ropes of shadow puppets. Sugary sweet.

It's very sweet for me to see them playing together. It's happening more and more these days. It's especially sweet because Flower has never been a solo player and now that she has River following her around she is no longer under my feet all day! Excellent.
She does everything Flower does.Later in the afternoon I experienced a rarity with River. Cuddling. She was having a hard time napping that day, pushing through a 5th tooth and all. She climbed up in my lap, put her back to my chest and just sat there a starred. It lasted 15 minutes!
She didn't even try to put her paws on my camera when I tried to capture the moment. Just watched.
I love her little out stretched neck in this photo.
Eventually she fell asleep. I didn't move a muscle even though it was causing so much pain to my back. I relished in the tender moment that lasted almost a half hour.
After nap time I gave into Flower wanting her haircut and chopped her locks. I still completely adore this new look. It fits her sassy personality.
Sunday::
We woke up late. River was super clingy. KG had to stay late after church for some interviews. It only made sense to send him and Flower alone. I am so glad I did. I got more cuddle time with River! What I thought would be a one time dealio, happened again. She sat with her back against me for a good 10-15 minutes.
And since we were the only ones home it was completely quiet allowing me to relished in the joy for almost an hour because she fell asleep just like the day before. My back has not yet recovered and it is so worth it.River loves this doughnut tube. She pushes it all around the house. She puts one hand on it and one on the ground, pushing it in front of her as she crawls. Then she's stops and plays with it for a bit and then is on the move again.

Watching them play with their daddy is always sweet for me.
This a big deal for Flower. These types of things are really scary for her. She is so proud of herself!
It took everything in her to let go of his hands!

This girl isn't phased.
She jumped right up and then proceeded to chew on his feet.

We start 'em on the sauce early around here!
She's loving her new highchair that my sister is letting us use.
Very sweet weekend indeed.

Favorite blanket.

Out of all the lovely handmade blankets River received, it's a store bought that is her favorite! It was a still a gift from Joelle though so that's nice. She loves the soft blanket and the silky edge. As much as I tried to avoid her having a favorite, I can no longer deny that this blanket soothes her and she falls asleep faster.
She completely wraps herself up in it.
All her little parts sticking out are so cute.

The park at noon and the park at night!

Yesterday, Tuesday, was Flower's official last day of preschool this year! Wow. I can't believe it's been another year.  She did great and has learned a lot and changed so much.   They had a pajama day, wearing their pajamas, bringing a blanket and pillow and eating s'mores while watching a movie!
River had her 6th month check up yesterday afternoon, more to come on that later.  We had an hour and a half between picking up Flower from preschool and River's appointment.  Lame to go home and waste a lovely, hot day outside, so we celebrated her jaunt through preschool by going to the park!
We went to the Squishy Park.  I was only outfitted with my phone camera but the photos didn't turn out half bad.
The girls love the swings!

Flower would pretend to fly.  It was easy going hands free since they were holding each other in pretty well.

Then they tried facing the same way but Flower was not as comfortable.

And then solo.

We also played on lots of other areas of the park but since I had the Rivster in hand, I couldn't take photos.  Eventually we ended up back at the swings for the last 1/2 hour of our stay.  River got herself so relaxed she fell fast asleep.  All the other parents around were cracking up over her cuteness!  She fell asleep sitting straight up!
And then she bobbed from one side....

...to the other.
Flower didn't want to be in the 'baby' swings anymore so she went way over there.  She's on the far right.

I let River enjoy a few minutes of slumber and went and played with Flower for a minute.

From a distance I saw River eventually start to recline and had to go snap a few more shots before we left.

The sun must be bright for her sleepy eyes.
And eventually she was all the way reclined and then I had to pull her out, only to take her for shots!  Rude.

That afternoon KG and the girls hung out at the clubhouse for a bit.  As closing time approached KG suggested a picnic.  He went home and made tuna fish sandwiches and brought along carrots, applesauce and v8 juice.  We went to the park and had a great time.
KG so kindly remembered my regular camera.  There are lots of photos because I'm trying to get comfortable with my other lens.  It's still fairly intimidating to me because it doesn't zoom so moving closer and away from my subject is my responsibility.  That makes me a little self conscious and I'm just not used to it.  However, the colors it captures, the light this lens lets in and the bokeh it creates is so beautiful.  I'm fairly obsessed with bokeh.  I'm also experimenting with lighting.  I'm supposed to be doing some family photos tomorrow evening and I'd really like to finally take photos, other then of my children, with this lens.  Anyway, that explanation was probably not necessary for you but you got it anyway!
MMM...carrots.

Open faced tuna with cheese!  YUM!

He's so yummy.

We had to show dad our tandem skillz.
My heart does a double beat at the way they are trying to see each other!  They sure love one another and are able to show that more and more each day.
This is her scared look.  Oops.

And then we had them face the same way again.  Flower had a hard time getting out when we were done and got very upset.

Dad finally had to turn her upside down.  It took a few minutes to calm her down. :(
But calmed she was, as can be seen here. :)

You have no idea, except that I'm about to tell you, how much I love these next three photos.  I love the way I got the suns warm rays, the angle of the chains,  and how serene she looks.

For me, these are the epitome of summer days!

She climbed.

She conquered.  Something she couldn't do last summer!  Way to go!

Again, the glowing sun is my favorite!  I am so in love with the story that it tells.

And the way the sun's rays cast a haze on this one is lovely.  She is so carefree.

Another scared face.

Very cool musical instrument!

Pure sweetness.

Three strands of slobber takes some real talent!

Yummy fingers.

I love how unique and beautiful all three of their eyes are.  Completely different shapes and colors!
Flower's are a dark chocolate brown.

KG's are a delicious shade of hazel green.  My very favorite!

River's are black as night.  Normally her pupils cannot be seen.

I love the dynamics of this shot.

And to close the experience River was asleep on the blanket as we searched frantically for my lens cap to no avail.  Bummer :(

Hope your day was as magical.

Let's kick it.

can you dig it?
