wrapping up september with a pretty little bow

9.1-great grandma hunter watched the girls for me while i worked. the girls had a blast. and i'm really glad we took advantage of her being close one last time because they just bought a house and are moving to meridian! thanks carol.
9.2-my mom watched the girls while i worked. the girls had fun as usual. thanks mom. on our way home from her house we stopped by great grandma jensen's house for a visit. i'm glad we did. the girls enjoyed her and i always like talking with her.
9.3-this was kg's day to be spoiled. i set him up with an hour massage and then adjustment at the chiropractors office. then he got a pedicure. he worked a whole bunch of overtime and we want him to always know how much we love him and appreciate how hard he works for our family!
9.9-happy birthday joni!
9.12-happy birthday josh!
9.14-happy birthday sarah!
kg became an ordained vail worker at the temple. he's pretty excited!
9.16-happy birthday serena!
9.18-sandee watched the girls while i worked. thanks sandee.
9.24-we went to a garage sale to help support a friend of mine raising money for her son's donated dog to be trained as a companion animal. it's pretty amazing and we were happy to help. after that we went to buffalo grandparents and great grandma and grandpa hunters so flower to pimp out her fundraiser for school. she was grateful that they both helped her out. we enjoyed our visits with both.
9.25-i enjoyed an evening out alone to the general relief society broadcast. i enjoyed all the talks and monson is pretty hilarious.
9.26-sunday was our ward primary program. this is my all time favorite sunday. i was in the primary for 7 years in this ward and always got choked up because i saw how hard the kids and leaders worked to make it happen and the pure joy i felt when it went so well. and then to watch the children be spoiled by the amazing sister friend. awesome. now my joy is in watching flower. she knows all the songs and although she had her part memorized, got nervous at the microphone as she said, "jesus loves me because he gave me a sister". and even though she needed a bit of help, we were so proud of her. doug, opal, ken, laura, ryan, sandee, gregg, spencer and kas all came to support her and she was so thrilled! thanks everyone for the support.
after church the girls played their recent favorite game of 'dog and owner'. they put this stethoscope around their neck as a leash and act like a dog while the other one pulls them around. it's pretty cute. especially when river is the dog owner and dragging flower around. :) here river told her to 'sit' while she picked something off her foot.

9.27...my river
i was enjoying her snuggles after i got home from the chiropractor after getting x-ray results. i was told i have degenerative disc disease. it's nice to have answers to the chronic pain i've been in for several years. but strangely i was more depressed about it the next morning when i woke up in pain. i always wake up in pain. it takes awhile to stretch and get moving. but i guess i always had the hope that if i just exercise more(which worked in the past) or lose more weight, or whatever that the pain would finally go away. with this diagnosis, that's just not the case. bummer. now it's all about pain management which is frustrating. my lowest disc is 75% affected and some parts are bone on bone. the next disc up is 50% affected, the one above that is 25% affected. we can work to stop the progression and any further discs from being affected which is good news. i just hate being in pain everyday but really don't want to be on pain meds everyday yet. :(
9.28-kg helped in flower's class and he really enjoyed it. i look forward to it being my turn!
9.29-last day for the girls with emily. i'm bummed because the girls loved going to their house and i really trusted them. it just didn't work out for them with their homeschooling. :( i'm hoping the next option works out.
9.30-river pretended to make a birthday cake and then used her sippy cups as candles, sang happy birthday and blew out the candles. i love that her little imagination is taking off!she took blowing out the candles very seriously!
and now october is here! i'm a little more excited for october than i remember being last year. i'll bet it has something to do with the fact that we are having amazingly warm weather! we've already done some fun things and thanks to kg, our halloween costumes are in progress. details to come.

a bit of excitement for a thursday

thursday the 30th the gang picked me up to go to the bank and to lunch. that turned into a bigger adventure than we expected! when we pulled up to the bank kg noticed the woman in the car next to us was slumped over at the wheel. i went over to her window, which was down, and nudged her arm. she sat up briefly. i asked if she was ok and she said she was just taking a nap. the woman was drenched with sweat and clearly not well. she also had drool dribbling from her chin. i went into the bank and mentioned it to them. they were surprised that she was still there and said the manager had gone out at 11:00 to see if she was ok. it was now almost 2:00. 3 hours in the heat! hello?! i called the police. when i went back out to fill kg in that i had called the police he told me she had tried to start the car several times and was finally successful. but when she would try to put it in reverse she'd fall asleep. he told me to take river in to go potty and he'd wait for the police. while i was inside the woman had managed to get the car in reverse, back up a bit and then fell back to sleep when her tires hit the curb behind and blocking both lanes. kg tried to reach in and get her keys but that woke her up enough and she drove off. she barely missed hitting our van as well as many other cars in the parking lot. i hurried and got river in the car so we could follow her. she fell asleep at the light and the cars behind her honked to wake her up. i got dispatch back on the phone to let them know she was moving. we followed her north on orchard. she would weave into the lane next to us and she drifted in and out of sleep. everytime we got to a stop light we were so sure she was going to hit the car in front of her and somehow she would stop just in time. it was nerve wracking! we ended up past chinden in a neighborhood where she parked the car and appeared to be looking for something for quite a while. we just kept hoping the police would hurry up. after about 10 minutes she was on the move again. she had to do a u-turn therefor her drivers side was by our drivers side. kg stopped her and was able to staul her for 7 minutes! the dispatch on the phone with me was laughing and saying how good kg was. :) he was trying to offer her a banana and told her how much our baby loves bananas. they talked about various restaurants. not once did she think it odd that we were following her and now talking to her! she was not well. unfortunately she was bored with us and on the move again. but soon enough the police were there. we followed them and parked behind them as they questioned her. when they made her get out of the car she could hardly walk and had wet herself. my thought was some kind of diabetic thing. they said she wasn't drunk. it was either health related or overuse of medications. kg had to write down our statement and then after a half hour of all that excitement we were on our way. poor lady. we are amazed she didn't hurt someone or herself. the police called kg that night to ask some additional questions and they said she was at the hospital but never told him what was wrong.
we went to lunch at skippers. yum.
finally we went to the cannery. that is a lot of peaches and pears. :) hopefully they will last us a year.
they didn't last nearly long enough last year and they are the only canned kind i like.

yay for food storage. :)

holy crap they do have a floor!

we haven't seen it in months. kg spent a good amount of time in there while the girls were at emily's for the last time. this was the beginning of a big dejunking at our house the following weekend. i got rid of 50% of my clothes. we can also now walk in our computer/crap/sewing room. yay!

balancing act

this photo just makes me laugh! we cut the feet off the pajamas so we can put them on her backward and zip them up, thus preventing her from taking her diaper off in the night and peeing on her bed. :) the next morning she found the feet and put them on. as you can see, if the feet were still attached, these jammies would be way too small! :)

during the day we either duct tape the diaper on her or let her run naked which we don't mind at all.

she likes to balance on her daddy's hands.

and she's quite good. exciting milestones are happening for this girl! i'll fill you in soon.

teapot in the tub

she was thoroughly enjoying herself in the tub! who knew a teapot could provide so much entertainment?!

{cutest bum and feet ever}

she laughed and carried on. her joy certainly made it easy for me to forget about my back pain as i sat on the floor for 40 minutes watching her. :)

afternoon family date

friday the 24th we had a nice family afternoon date. flower had piano lessons so we dropped her off and then went downtown. i had to go to the post office for work and then we walked around for a 10 minutes. i adore these pink chairs! i want some.
we stopped by the chocolate store and got a little treat.

we chose a turtle, toffee and a buddha.
we got the buddha because river is obsessed with a little buddha we have. it was my favorite chocolate. it was dark chocolate filled with white chocolate ganache infused with green tea. it was wonderful!
we picked up flower from piano a few minutes later and we all shared the chocolate. :) then we went to lunch at yoi tomo. delicious!
geez, these photos make me crave it! so good.
oh, and can you see a difference in the quality of these photos?! doesn't flower look pretty. kg got my camera fixed for my belated birthday gift. i got it back the day before. thanks honey! i was really missing good photos!
messy face because she was loving her food!
mmm...sushi.
their miso soup is also delicious!

we ate quickly, like 20 minutes, because they closed at 2:00 and I had to be back to work at 2:00. it was only an hour total but it was the perfect afternoon date.

fresh eggs

wednesday the 22nd
river and this squirrel were brave. river went right out and touched it's tail and it didn't run. or bite her thank heavens!

she was pretty proud of herself.
that evening we went to my friend jenn's house. i haven't seen jenn since high school. we used to laugh so much in home ec in junior high. laugh until we got in trouble :D good times. i didn't realize she lived so close to us. she was helping out another high school friend, ali, by selling bread and cream cheese braids in order to help ali raise money. ali is doing a fundraiser to pay for a donated dog to receive companion training. the dog will become the companion animal to her autistic little boy. the story is amazing. watch the video. it's so sweet. i knew i had to help so i bought some bread and the best cream cheese braid! jenn also gave us a dozen fresh eggs! awesome. the girls loved seeing the chickens. i loved seeing jenn. river would imitate the rooster. it was funny.
very nice evening.

thanks danita!

a tenant that we really liked moved last tuesday, the 21st.
when i went to do her move-out inspection she had this playhouse. flower fell in love which is funny because they have a huge dollhouse they never play with. both the girls are fascinated with it.
i fell in love with the appliances! :)
someday when we are back in our house i want either an orange or turquoise washer and dryer set. magical.
and now that the girls have this one they are loving the other doll house again because they each play with one and have a neighborhood! love listening to them play and use their imaginations.

Let's kick it.

can you dig it?

My photo
i love life. i love my family. i love adventures.

past ramblings

peace out
