....OUR HOLIDAY WAS EXPLOSIVE! ;)

Flower and I slept till 10 am. :) We just played around the house till KG got home around 1:00 pm from seeing Transformers at 9:45 with Gregg and Spencer. He liked it. That afternoon Flower helped me make some bath salts I'm selling. While she took a nap I made 2 skirts while I watched some more episodes of Friday Night Lights online. Both the skirts were patterns I made up, one turned out awful and the other pretty cute. At 6:30 we met the Goodsell's and the Jensen's at 9th and Bannock for a parade. We really enjoyed ourselves and it was a great parade! The kids had a lot of fun catching the candy that was being tossed at them. Some of the other highlights were the old fashioned cars with funny sounding horns,
and these sports cars that winked and blinked.

The sweet sight of this veteran being cheered on was very touching!
This little BIG truck was a big hit too!

[WE INTERRUPT THIS PARADE TO BRING YOU A VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: GET THE HELL OUT OF THE ROAD OR YOU WILL BE RUN OVER! MAKE WAY FOR THE FIRE TRUCKS THAT ARE HEADING RIGHT FOR YOU! IF YOU DON'T GET OUT OF THE WAY YOU WILL BECOME ROAD KILL!

AND NOW...BACK TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM]
Yes, right in the middle of the parade, we got a honk from behind us, since we were in the middle of an intersection that had been blocked. We had to get up, quickly gather out things and spread to the sidewalks! Nice! Our parade is much more important then your damn false alarm!
Anyway...the best thing by far was the 5 or so tankers that were bringing up the tail end of the parade. With the sweltering heat that was frying our brains, the massive amount of water coming our way was very welcomed! I hadn't planned on being part of a wet t-shirt contest but who cares, right? Here's KG and Flower waiting for their turn to be soaked!

The crowd was also treated to Popsicles from Darigold.
Here's my two favorite people standing in front of the fire truck. We passed it as we were leaving, the fireman watching the parade now coming down another road. That must have been some emergency! ;) As we were making our way to the Grove, we waited on one corner for the rest of the slowpokes in our group to catch up. KG threw these three up on the newsstands in an attempt to keep track of all the little monkeys!

Once at the Grove we thoroughly enjoyed our pitas before devouring the cold temperature of the fountain.

We got Flower in her swimming suit and 'helped' her get really wet.

She was being so cute! She just kept running circles around the fountain and was having a ball!

At 9:15 we finally walked to Ann Morrison to find the prime spot for our fireworks viewing pleasure.

All the kids did great with the amount of walking, except for Topher who was spoiled with a stroller ride! The weather was perfect and everyone played. We couldn't have asked for a better night!

Finally it was time for the big show and the kids were mesmerized!

Our little group was the cutest bunch in the park! Here's my favorite firework photo of the night!
As we were sitting in the park and I was looking around at all the people, hanging out, being chill, having BBQ's, playing sand volleyball, lighting there own fireworks, all with family and friends, I realized how much I love this city! We enjoyed the day so much and it was all provided by the city at no cost to us. There is so much to partake of here without being overrun like much bigger cities. I am so grateful for where I live and all the love that surrounds me in family and friends! We are truly blessed!
Peace out!
