Flower, Flower, Flower...

...what am I going to do with you?

She makes me laugh. She makes me shake my head in wonder. She keeps me on my toes. she is so loving and caring.

She is a great big sister and loves River so much. She loves to help and is adjusting really well. I'd say she's pretty much back to her old self. They sat together yesterday for about 40 minutes. Perfectly content. I was delighted because usually one or the other gets restless and then the other gets annoyed. River is 8 weeks today. Flower is 3 years and 9 months on Sunday. Wow. I love these girls.
Flower is such a little scaredy cat lately. It seems it started about 6 months ago. She is afraid of everything! All the movies she used to love like Nemo, Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast etc, she can't watch anymore because they scare her. Whether it be a shark, the beast, a lion...she flips out. Even some of the tv shows. She loves Super Why! but sometimes they have a troll under a bridge and she freaks out. She's afraid of bugs and anything on the floor that might look like a bug. I think I wrote about her absolute fear of the game 'Operation'. When that game buzzed at her we thought her world was going to end. She flipped out like I've never quite seen before. Well now she's afraid of toys. Today when I picked her up from preschool, the teacher pulled me aside and told me she had a complete an utter melt down over a toy. She was inconsolable. The toy you ask? It was a hot potato! No really. Dead serious. The kids were in a circle and passing it around trying to get rid of it quickly, just as you play Hot Potato. When it came to her she went ballistic. She jumped back and started screaming that she didn't want to get burned. The teacher tried to tell her it wasn't really hot, just pretend but she was having none of it. The teacher finally had to take her out of the room in order to get Flower to trust her that she wouldn't get burned. It's crazy. Her teacher was totally shocked and felt terrible. Nothing like this has happened at school yet. I didn't think this issue would even last this long so I really hope she outgrows it soon. I'm a little frustrated as every time I turned around she is afraid of something. But it's really hard not to laugh!

This morning we went to see Joni for breakfast. Kris met us there. Then KG left, taking River and Flower, to drop Flower off at preschool and then go to karate. He didn't end up going to karate due to a stomach ache and being exhausted. :( I went with Kris to the Cannery. My green card expires at the end of the month so we needed to use it. Unfortunately they didn't have anything I needed but she was able to make good use of it so it didn't go to waste. When she brought me home she came up for a bit to cuddle with River while I made a disk of photos for Jer.

I soon left to pick Flower up from school. When we got home we were watching the American Idol auditions. After a few minutes I look over and she is covering her ears. It was a particularly terrible singer but I didn't think a kid would be able to recognize that.
Our conversation went like this:
me: Why are you covering your ears?
Flower: Because that's a bad word.
me: What's a bad word?
Flower: The singing *said like I'm completely stupid*
me: He hasn't said any bad words. What do you mean?
Flower: His voice is yucky. *sticks out tongue and makes a disgusted face*
Nice. This went on throughout the show. She really knew and highly disliked when they sounded like crap! And she would ask why they were yelling. At one point she said, "He's not singing. He's yelling. Why he on there?" And then roll her eyes.
I'm still laughing. She just cracks me up.

She made this cute snowman at school on Tuesday.
She is having great fun in preschool and her best buddy is still Tanner. They play 'mom and dad' everyday by dressing up and playing in the kitchen. When they play Duck Duck Goose or Red Light Green Light, they always tag each other. I have been a little surprised that she has preferred the boys at preschool over the girls. She is so girly and loves the princess stuff. Well today I think I finally pinpointed why. On our way home I asked her what she did and she gave the standard answer but then said she was very angry at Sammy because she played the Mom. She went on to say that she was supposed to be the mom because she is always the mom when Tanner is the Dad but Sammy took it away. I don't think she likes to have to compete with the girls. If she plays with boys they will leave her girly stuff alone! She gets what she wants and doesn't have the drama of fighting over it. Smart kid.

I had fun doing her hair today. It's a new do to me. It kind of looks like a head band across the front out of her hair.

I hope your week is going well. I am very excited about our upcoming weekend, which technically starts tonight for us! :) Hope yours is fab!

I just read an article in parents about this, that now she's at an age to be specifically scared of things. Can't remember what they said to do about it, didn't read the whole thing. Maybe you could google it.
