You have two choices...

We have been trying to teach Flower that she can make her own choices, but that she has to accept the consequences to follow, whether good or bad. For example, "You have two choices: You can can clean your room, thereby being able to play a game or watch a little tv before bed or you can choose not to clean your room but then you have to go to bed now." We are fine with whatever she chooses but then we are sure to stick to the consequence. There are various scenarios to this such as brushing teeth, getting shoes on when it's time to go, sharing with friends. You get the idea. Well she has now caught on...somewhat.

The other night we were dealing the first scenario I mentioned. After making the choice to clean her room, she came marching out of her room and with her sternest voice and finger waiving said, "Dad! You have two choices! You can be nice to girls or you can be mean to girls." This was in reference to herself because she thought he was mean for making her clean her room. She also doesn't quite understand offering up the consequences. He promptly said, "I choose to be mean to girls now go clean your room."

She stomped off and that was that.

There have been several that have left us cracking up but that is the only one my mush brain is remembering at the moment.

Let's kick it.

can you dig it?
