We certainly didn't labor this weekend!

We left town Saturday to enjoy our weekend. We met KG's parents for brunch and then, after buying groceries, were on the road by 1:00. We went to the cabin to get away from all the noise. It was lovely and I really enjoyed being there with just mom and dad. Flower got lots of Papa and Nai Nai time which she really enjoyed. We all spent most of the time sleeping, reading, sleeping, doing cross word puzzle/logic books, sleeping, watching movies and just relaxing without the pressure to do anything! It was wonderful.
Saturday night we enjoyed a campfire.
Flower thought it was great fun burning marshmallows.

And that's pretty much what we watched her do the whole time.
Except when we were being blinded by smoke.

This is the first campfire I've enjoyed from the new spot that dad created with views of the mountains and overlooking the pond which was revitalized last summer after many many years!
I love this photo! Papa feeding Flower a toasted marshmallow.
And this is my next favorite! Papa blowing out Flower's burning 'mallows over and over again.
Chubby Bunny Game. She can only fit one in that little mouth of hers.
I fit four...barely!

Nai Nai took a turn at blowing out the burning 'mallows.
Flower finally climbs a few ladders on the playground and now she's a pro! She wanted to climb ladders all weekend! This one leads to the loft.

Yes...we still had to bring our technology to our 'real' cabin that is powered with a generator.
Flower was trying so hard to reach for that light so grandma finally helped.
I took the opportunity to go on a walk on Sunday night before dinner to enjoy my surroundings and play with my camera. I actually put my camera in manual mode and was in complete control and just practiced. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and things are making sense! I am becoming more confident and after that I didn't like how the auto mode looked! :)
Everything around the cabin was slowing down...including the spillway.
A sign of impending winter with just a trickle of water.
The leaves are changing in preparation for fall.
There were only a few berries to be found.
I love the cabin with all my heart. It's so peaceful.
Some leaves were more vibrant then others.
The weather was beautiful all weekend. On Saturday night we got some rain as we slept. I love the sound of the rain hitting the metal roof.
I crossed a new bride that Dad and some of his friends built over Sugar Creek since I was last there...

...which leads to the park which they also cleaned up.
The Park fire pit is the best for large groups.
I then crossed back over Sugar Creek on an old bridge...
...that leads to the newest outhouse. It's by far my favorite.
As I crossed the creek I found some flowers that are hanging on to the warm weather.

And there's a cute little bench outside the outhouse in case there's a line. ;)
We had corn on the cob for dinner. Flower thoroughly enjoyed it! She ate two full ears. I couldn't help but take a million photos of her eating it!

I also think I found the culprit to the hives/welts that her face broke out in later that night. If you look at the photos from the first bite of corn until the last, her cheeks get more red. It must be the butter.
I love the butter dripping from her chin...
...and her fingers.

She's such a goof!

As I mentioned earlier, this is a true cabin in the sense that there is no electricity, no running water, no bathroom, exposed insulation and two by fours. It's complete with rats, mice, other rodents and spiders. I can handle most of them but become a total wuss when it comes to the spiders. I am terrified they'll be hiding in every crack and crevasse inside the sofas and chairs. Blech. At least the rodents bolt when they see humans.
There's a room beyond the family room with all the beds. Mom and dad always sleep on the right.
We slept on the left. The bunk beds are always full of odds and ends that can be cleared if needed.
It was built in the 1940's with wall paper circa 1950's.
I love the windows...
...and the fireplace.
As run down and shabby as the place is, I LOVE it. It takes me back to a quieter, less busy time.
We spent more time outside before it got dark.

KG and Dad were moving a whole bunch of branches and brush from near the cabin to the pond in an effort to clean up the grounds.

It's so beautiful.

The shooting range. :)

This sign is just funny.

This is the main bridge. It's getting a little worn. You'll notice the log next to the bridge. It's about to get redone which will be the next big project.
Flower found another ladder.

She had no fear about climbing to the top.

And now for the main event.
Dad is lighting the cocktail.
And he's off!
And then we wait...
...and enjoy the pretty water...
...and the pretty sky...
...until this!
Check out the flames inside the smoke!

I love fire!!!
Doesn't the fire look like two arms in the air? There's a head in the middle with hair sticking up. The right arm is in the air and the hand got blown off creating all the fire bits in the air. The left arm is in the air and, with it's thumb and index finger, grabbed the blown off thumb of the other hand. So cool! :0) Morbid I know. But that's what I see!
Flower watched while wearing Papa's glasses.
I love the reflection of the fire in the pond.
It started calming down so we left it to burn and went inside to watch a movie.

Monday afternoon I took Flower on a walk with me.
Last time my two nephews, Adam and Spencer came they built this fort.
I'm told they were very proud of it.
Flower took time to draw her name in the dirt.

There are lots of trails that lead to adventure.
Some more cabins to be found in the distance.

There was a lone leaf in the creek.
We found a few more flowers.

It leans a little more each year.
This is one of my favorite places to come and sit when I'm by myself.

There was probably big plans for this window at one time or another.
An old box spring.
There are treasures to be found at every turn.

Flower tried out the new bridge.
Since she didn't get scared halfway through, about wobbly boards or it slanting towards the water, I think she approves.
The little guy made himself at home on the tarp.

Unfortunately he couldn't stay long because they had to put the tarp on the trailer.
The last step before we were on our way back to reality.
We had such a great time and I'm really glad we went. It was really nice to have time with just the five us. It doesn't happen very often.
When we got back to Boise we stopped by Taco Bell and then went right to my photography class at the Nature Center. KG took Flower to Municipal Park, right next door.
Our Labor Day was awesome. I hope you enjoyed yours as well!
