Gold Hill, Shady Cove, Sisters::day thirteen

This morning we rolled out of camp by 9:00. We went to The Oregon Vortex and House of Mystery. It was very cool! A lot of the things in the photos won't make sense because they don't do the experience justice but just believe me when I say it's amazing and very entertaining.

This broom really was standing all by itself.
Because of the mysteries of the vortex, this bottle was actually rolling up hill. The girl on the top would kick it down to try and make it stay and it would roll right back up without help.
This house was so hard to stand in and also messes with your equilibrium. Good thing we hadn't eaten breakfast yet!

Flower and I are standing on level ground. It's hard to tell from the photos but when I stood on the left, the angle of the stick on our heads was much less then when I stood on the right as you can see from the next two photos.

That actually had nothing to do with the angles of the house as she showed us here in the woods without the house as a background. See how the tape measure is at KG's nose in this photo?
Then he walked across a level board and all of a sudden the tape measure is at his mouth. We used a level during each experiment so we know there was no trickery, and she didn't move a muscle while he walked.
The whole thing was just sweet! I'm really happy we made time for it.
After that we were hungry and stopped in Shady Cove to have brunch at Ma's Restaurant.
As you can see by the sign, they had an interesting choice of food. We went with the Chinese. We had no idea the portions would be so big and left with more then we actually ate. Dang. It was really good though and is the next best thing we've found to Oriental Express and still not even close!
As our adventure continued we made a stop at Crater Lake. This is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. Seriously. It's SO blue. I've never seen anything like it. WOW!
There are some photos in color and some just highlighting the lake with everything else in black and white. I love them both.
This is not the sky. Can you believe how that fools your eyes? I was standing on the top and taking a photo down into the lake! It's just crazy how that looks like a hill up to the trees but it's actually a sand bar going down. Weird.
This photo is actually the same as the one above but I didn't focus on the ground right below me. You can see the same treetops that are in the one above, that little clump of treetops right by the water.

We had to stop in a tiny town to get gas and were amused by how old their pumps were! Notice they had to write 'double' over 'this sale' and then below that they had to write in the price per gallon. Then they'd go inside to add up how much it was based on your gallons.
And then for the pump below, if you used a credit card they pumped from the left, cash with the pump on the right and there was a discounted price for cash.
We finally arrived at our camp spot in Sisters after getting lost on a really long detour! Oh well. We are happy to be near the playground because we were able to let Flower go play while we set up.

She was completely thrilled to have other children around!
There's a little 9 hole mini golf course that we enjoyed.

KG got a hole in one!
It's Flower's first time playing mini golf! She loved it!

She caught on pretty quick. She knew how to stand and hold the club after just a few holes.
Look how stinkin' cute she is!!! These photos are for Matt and Jer. She'll be out golfin' with them soon enough! ;o)

She was so proud of herself when she got one in the hole from start to finish all by herself.

We had a really good time.
We must have wore her out because she said she was tired and ready for bed and fell to sleep so easily tonight! As I write this KG is next to me doing his Logic Problems Book. I'm so glad he bought them. We did them all day yesterday. So much fun.
And now, I'm going to join him.
Big hugs to everyone.
